Building Your Opt-In List - Part IV

Hi, Folks!

Hope you're doing well, and that your opt-in list-building is off to a flying start! Did you order your first 1,000 opt-in leads from GetResponse yet? Remember, they're only 28ยข each there, and get added to your GetResponsePro autoresponder automatically!

So far I've shown you how to set up your autoresponder, where to get an e-course to load into it, how to automatically generate an HTML form to get signups through, given you a free e-book to entice visitors with, introduced you to two free co-reg services to build your lists quicker, and told you about the great deals on leads from GR. If you missed any of the info, read the first 3 installments here in our archives before continuing on...

If you HAVE read those three and followed up on them, you will most definitely be seeing the signups starting to roll in already. If you haven't acted on them yet, what's holding you back? LET ME KNOW if there's a problem - I don't want any unsuccessful marketers on this list, and I DO want you on it - so let me know if you need help!

In Internet Marketing, 3 things are true:

The MONEY is in the list.

The money IS in the list, and

The money is in THE LIST!

No matter how you say it, it still holds true - you are simply not going to make the kind of money you want to online without an opt-in list of interested, motivated subscribers who know you and trust you!

Now, to continue on with our list-building efforts I want you to take a look at these two sites:

http://www.Affiliate-Marketing-Special-Report.com

http://www.AffiliateMarketingSpecialReport.com

What do you notice right off? The URLs are almost identical - but did they take you to the same place? No. Why would I build both?

Did you read through the copy on the first site?

http://www.Affiliate-Marketing-Special-Report.com

It tells about the Report, and invites people to join our Building Downlines e-course before reading the report. Once they fill out the form and submit it, they're whisked away to the second URL, where they can read the report in it's entirety.

This type of page serves one purpose, and one purpose only - to increase your opt-in rate. With a form on every page of the site, we get .25 - .50% signups. With a fly-in like the ones at Market My Dot Com! or Earning More Online! it jumps to 3 - 5%, with the larger one at Market My Dot Com! pulling a little better than the smaller one.

But the lead capture page at for the AMSR site boosts signups way up - into the 25 - 50% range at times!

Understand, though - first, the site MUST be a content site with bona-fide information your traffic will want to read, and secondly, BE SURE to add a way to get to the info without signing up as well! As much as we'd love for every visitor to opt in, not all will - no matter what you do. If you read to the bottom of the page there, you'll see a link that says 'No thanks, just take me to the report'.

Those people who can be enticed into joining your list right off already have been, and will have filled out the form and submitted it. Those who aren't interested in your info have already left. So those using this link are those who read past the form, having no intention of joining your list yet.

That doesn't mean you won't get them to sign up. Right now they don't know you, your site or your work - they've only seen your lead capture page by this point. That's why you still have your sign-up form on every page of the site, even though so many of your visitors will arrive through your lead capture page.

Optimize both for the search engines - you want all the free traffic you can get, especially free targetted traffic. When referring people to the site in your personal e-mails, refer them to the normal site - you already correspond with them, so why have them sign up? But in links from your other sites, your blogs, your advertising, your resource box at the end of your articles, your forum posts sig file, etc, always use the URL for your lead capture page!

Two advanced tips:

1) Get in the habit of building 2, 3 or 4 lead capture pages for each site, then test them to see which works best. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Pro account at Web Dawg and load all 3 or 4 into your URL Rotator there. Then run your ads and articles, and see which form pulls the best. Your GetResponse autoresponder form has a field named 'ref' with a 3-digit number in it. Simply put a different number in the code on each of those 3 or 4 pages, and then log into GR & browse through your signups - you'll quickly see which one works best. Then just kill the other 2 or 3 and go with the proven winner!

For about $10 a month, the Web Dawg rotator will pay for itself many times over - especially if you use it to test your sales pages as well! Once you've chosen a lead capture page, remove those URLs from Web Dawg & put in the ones for the 2 or 3 versions of your sales page & run the same test - usually one will emerge as a clear-cut winner!

2) A lead capture page is also the best way to refer people to your affiliate opportunities. Far too many affiliates simply send people directly to the opportunity - which builds their list, not yours! You've either worked hard or spent good money to get that traffic - make sure it's YOU who gets the permission to send the visitor more info on the opportunity - otherwise you may only get that one chance to convince them to check it out.

Enough for today, my friend! Get your Web Dawg URL rotator, build your lead capture pages and start testing them right away. And if you haven't become a paid member of Empowerism yet, do it before Tuesday - because on Tuesday I'll show you how to use your Empowerism account to build your list even faster in Building Your Opt-In List - Part V.

To your success,
