Internet Marketing 2.0 - Woofers Becoming Tweeters!

Yes, it's true - woofers are becoming tweeters in record numbers as a result of the Web 2.0 site Twitter.com. More and more of the Internet marketing 'Big Dogs' are posting a few times a day on Twitter, where the mini-blog posts are called 'tweets'.

But while definitely a Web 2.0 community site, it's value is quite different to the Internet marketing community. Tweets are limited to 140 characters, so all messages have to be kept brief - no long-winded sales pitches here. And, unlike the other Web 2.0 sites, Twitter uses a 'nofollow' tag, preventing the search engines from considering your posts as one-way links back to your sites, and preventing them from spidering a new site based on your links there.

So if there's no search engine optimization benefits to posting a link there, why are virtually all of the big-name Internet marketers taking the time to read posts and post their own information on Twitter? From what has transpired there so far, it would seem there are three main reasons to use Twitter in your Internet marketing efforts.

First up, your core followers can click a link to 'follow' you on Twitter, meaning they can read everything you post there from their own Twitter page. this makes for an easy way for fans to keep up with what you're up to, and also to contact you either via replies to your tweets or by direct messaging. With so many Internet marketing mavens being completely swamped with e-mails and support desk issues, this might well become a standard means of contact with the otherwise unreachable superstars of Internet marketing.

Secondly, many of the tweets are quite simple and unrelated to business - 'taking the kids to the park' or 'off to see the new James Bond flick'. This allows people to see a more human side of big-time Internet marketers, to see they're just like the rest of us but with a bigger budget. This 'human connection' aspect may yet turn out to be the biggest part of the Twitter advantage, since the online world can seem quite cold and austere to those not overly experienced in the online world in general and Internet marketing in particular.

And thirdly, because you can reply to tweets of the people you're following there, Twitter is rapidly becoming an easy solution for those in Internet marketing to stay in touch, to reach out to each other, and to maintain a sense of community between the live Internet marketing events. Spread out around the globe, many Internet marketers see each other only once every year or two, and often not even that frequently - many never meet their Internet marketing partners and compatriots in the offline world at all.

But so far Twitter does the best job of overcoming that hurdle, creating a sense of community that extends from the biggest internet marketing and affiliate marketing superstars right down to the newest of newbies - and as such may well also become the industry's top resource for meeting, cultivating and recruiting future Internet marketing Joint Venture partners as well.

To put Twitter to use in your internet marketing or affiliate marketing arsenal, start by setting up a free account there using your real name (for branding and so others can find you easily), and then clicking the links to follow the posts of those Internet marketers you're most interested in. Get a feeling for the common posts there, and soon you'll be tweeting along with the best of them - and you'll see your following growing right along with the list of Internet marketers you're following there too.

How To Succeed Online

Internet Marketing is not rocket science - in fact, I would guess the average Grade 10 grad can succeed online with Internet Marketing, if they're shown the right path to follow, and have the motivation, desire and focus to stay with it and persevere til they are successful online!

You see, when it comes to making money online, my coaching & mentoring programs have shown me that people getting into Internet marketing fall into one of three groups, generally.

The vast majority of Internet marketing newbies will pay attention and stick to their plan until something catches their attention. As a result, they experience some Internet marketing success, unless they're following the advice of too many people, in which case they tend to hop around all over the online marketing landscape, spending a lot of money and expending a lot of energy without seeing any real success at any of it. Unfortunate, but true.

The second group of people trying to make money online tend to be a bit older, and have previously achieved success in fields other than marketing in the offline world. They listen politely to their success coach and/or Internet marketing mentor as he or she explains how they became successful online, and what steps the newbie must follow to achieve that first true measure of successful Internet marketing, usually in the affiliate marketing or niche marketing arenas.

They then calmly explain they have no intention of doing it that way, but will do it their own way right from the start. In essence, they intend to bend the entire Internet community to THEIR idea of what should and shouldn't be happening online, instead of realizing that the web is dynamic, growing and totally beyond ANYONE'S control.

If you share their attitudes toward Internet marketing, take my advice and stay in the offline world to make your living. Offline business models usually don't translate well online if they don't originate in the marketing industry, and I have yet to see any of this group, regardless of the amount of help given, make even $100 in their first 6 months, if ever.

Please understand before even venturing out onto the seas of Internet marketing that the web is still in it's infancy, fighting surges within itself, and rolling on forward like a Tsunami, making short work of anyone and anything that gets in the way of it's progress or tries to harness it's path or power. Like any big wave, their are only two methods to deal with it safely - stay out of the water til it passes, or study it, know it, and use experience with smaller waves to build up the expertise to ride the wave in an exhilerating rush, gathering cash all along the way!

One of my personal business heroes is an author who shaped a lot of my early marketing career, Robert Ringer, the most successful self-published business author in history. He likened true to success to a parade, saying that 2% are in the parade, 8% are watching the parade, and the other 90% don't even realize a parade exists. Thirty years later, this could just as easily be said of those in Internet marketing.

And that brings us to the third group, the rarest of the Internet marketing newbies. They're easy to spot - they're the ones who seem to come out of nowhere and suddenly land in the 'successful Internet Marketing circles', not yet big dogs but easily observed to be heading there quickly. If you've been 'playing' at Internet marketing or making a half-hearted effort for some time now, you've probably wondered how they shoot by you so easily...

First, they're smart - they pay attention to what their coach or mentor tells them, and to what they see of that expert's current operation. They're not really interested in how their coach GOT to that lofty position - they intend to skip all the trial & error, all the mistakes and mis-steps their mentor made - and just imitate what actually works!

Secondly, they're inquisitive. They do their best to understand WHY Internet marketing tactics work, why certain strategies pay off big time while others flop. They watch what the big dogs are doing and, rather than following it blindly, ask their coach or mentor why this Internet marketing hotshot or that super-affiliate is doing what they are, and what they're liable to achieve from it. Also, whether it's something they should be incorporating in their own Internet marketing processes.

Thirdly, they're innovative. They take that new-found knowledge and set up systems that will bring in the bucks, all the while looking for ways to improve the systems, to add in additional income streams and, eventually, to eclipse their coach or mentor. And any coach or mentor worth their salt LOVES that, and brags about that person incessantly... ;)

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, they stay focussed and ACTIVE. Not content to just maintain the status quo, they're constantly looking to improve their Internet marketing processes, acheive Super-Affiliate status and show up on the JV leaderboards, and are CONSTANTLY building their opt-in lists. You see them running giveaways, networking at the social sites and the live internet marketing events whenever they can, and creating products by interviewing those more successful than themselves, knowing it's a very powerful way to learn from the best while making money at it!

This third group, albeit the smallest fraction of the online world, are still part of today's newbies. But they are tomorrow's Big Dogs - and the next day's Internet marketing superstars, the marketing gurus who pull down millions a year from Internet marketing, affiliate marketing and niche marketing empires others envy so openly. These are tomorrow's versions of the Stephen Pierces, the Marlon Sanders, the Ken MacArthurs, the Joel Comms, the Rich Schefrens, the Liz Tomeys and the Jimmy D Browns who rule the online world today.

So take that immortal advice - 'Know Thyself' - and realize upfront which of the three groups you currently fit into. If it's either of the first two groups, you have a decision to make. Consciously change your attitudes toward making money online in general and Internet marketing in particular, or stick to using the Internet for pleasure use.

If you feel you fall into that third group, or can adapt to the necessary changes to reach that headspace, then I recommend you start following my 'How To Succeed Online' series that started this week. It's not philosophical, it's not theory, it's a down-and-dirty action plan to get you up and running and into the profit zone as quickly as possible in your own Internet marketing and affiliate marketing business.

Advanced Reseller Strategies...

OK - now that that's out of the way, I want to show you
how to up your results from resell rights & PLR rights
materials you pick up. First, make sure you have the PLR
package from Mike Steup - the one he's giving away:

You'll need it for this tutorial, and you'll want it
for your own use online as well. Once you have it, go to
the 'website' folder & open the page 'index.html'. This is
the salespage for the audio e-book 'Life After A Stroke'.

When considering niche products, you have to make one
decision right off - is this product in a niche you want
to really focus on, or just a secondary niche to your plan.
So in this case, if you're not targeting the Health Niche,
you can just add you name & info where the pink text is,
set up the PayPal button and the salespage is done. Do
the same with the download page, upload the whole thing
to one of your existing sites and off you go...

But in our case, for example, we already have sites
in the Health niche, so this is more important than a 'one-off'
product. So then what? Well, first thing is to book an
appropriate name for the new site, since it'll warrant
a new site of it's own. Two names, actually - one with
and one without the dashes between words.

The one with the dashes will be the full site, using
the articles, report and squeeze page that come with the
bundle - and by having the dashes between the words in
the name, it's easy for the engines to identify any and
all keywords in the domain name.

The second version of the name, without the dashes,
will point directly to the audio e-book salespage,
located in a sub-folder of the main site. This gives me
a simple way to direct people straight to the e-book,
and stops anyone from using the same name either with
or without the dashes, since I've got it both ways.

OK, now take a look at the salespage that came with
the bundle. You'll see there's nothing wrong with it -
except that everyone reselling this e-book will be
using this same page. Again, that's fine for unimportant
niches, but this one matters to us so we want the page
to do well in the search engines and avoid the duplicate
content problems.

Open that salespage in your browser & take a good
look at it, then hit Ctrl+N to open a 2nd window. Next
hit this link to see it on our new site:

Life After A Stroke Audio E-Book

With the two open side-by-side, see if you can spot
the main changes I've made. The first one is easy - I've
totally altered the look and feel of the site with new
graphics and a much wider page size. Mine don't have to
be better - just different.

Then, the page starts with content that doesn't exist
on the original salespage at all - an expert quote from
an authority site. This gives new content, helps reassure
visitors and gets the 'stroke' keyword into the page's
first paragraph 5 times including once in a link. And
remember, Google looks for outbound links to quality,
related sites, so it helps there too.

There's a lot more there too, like the audio sample,
the Guaranteed graphic, the blue order button, anchor
text links, etc, but this post is already too long. So
take a few minutes and really compare the two versions,
see what I altered and what I left out completely - you
should be able to figure out WHY I left out what I did.

opt-in form, in the hope it'll draw them to some of our
related resources either now or in future.

Right now, that's as far as I've gotten with the site,
but it's a great start. Early next week I'll show you the
site we build around it using the other resources in that

Resell These PLR Niche Reports!
